Thank you for visiting my web site! Contained within these pages you will find
information on my research interests, teaching experience, contact information, and personal
pages. Below is a brief introduction to
me.
I recently finished my Ph.D. in Economics at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) and have been a Postdoctoral Researcher in Behavioral Economics at the Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorist Events (CREATE) at the University of Southern California (USC) since September 2006. Besides my studies, my most distinguishing feature is my international
experience. I have lived in four
different countries including Japan,
Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. I was born in Los Angeles,
but have also lived in New York, Chicago, and Washington
D.C.. My undergraduate studies were at Willamette University
in Salem, Oregon.
It is difficult to state exactly how this experience makes
me different from others who have not lived abroad. However, I believe growing up abroad has made it easy for me to make friends, tolerate differences, and teach clearly. I have very limited
knowledge of Mandarin Chinese, German, and Japanese, which help me to identify with different
people. While most of my life revolves around research and
teaching, I enjoy hiking, swimming, surfing, skiing, snow boarding, reading,
running, mountain biking, and just about anything I can do outside.
Again, thank you for visiting my site and please feel free
to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns!
